LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. – A four-vehicle crash on Highway 61 Thursday afternoon left an Old Monroe woman dead and three others injured.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash occurred around 4:40 p.m. on southbound Highway 61 at the crossover of Route K and Route V. The crash involved a Chevrolet Malibu, Hyundai Sonata, Ford F-150, and Buick Lacrosse.
The crash happened when the Hyundai Sonata was traveling eastbound on Highway K and failed to stop at a stop sign at southbound Route 61, causing the vehicle to strike the Chevrolet Malibu.
After the impact of the crash, MSHP says the Hyundai Sonata overturned and struck the Ford and Buick, which were traveling northbound on Route 61.
According to MSHP, the driver of the Hyundai Sonata, a 23-year-old woman from Old Monroe, Mo., was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu, along with two passengers in the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment, all suffering from moderate injuries.
The drivers of the Ford F-150 and Buick Lacrosse did not suffer from any injuries in the crash, according to MSHP.
