ST. CHARLES, Mo. – A St. Charles toddler has died days after she was pulled from a burning mobile home.

The St. Charles Fire Department confirmed the child’s death on Monday.

The fire happened before 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Sunnydale Mobile Home Park just off Zumbehl Road.

Firefighters arrived in the 200 block of Pinedale Drive to find the mobile home fully engulfed. A mother and one of her children managed to escape, but the two-year-old was trapped inside.

Multiple firefighters rushed into the burning home and found the toddler within minutes.

Both kids were rushed to Children’s Hospital. The two-year-old was in critical condition. The other child was treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire department has not announced how the fire started. The state fire marshal’s office is investigating.
