CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. – A missing toddler was recovered from the Lake of the Ozarks Monday evening, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A 2-year-old girl was reported missing around 4:45 p.m. Monday off of Tenney Road near the 43 and 44 mile marker.

The Northwest Fire Protection District of Camden County shared that crews began searching the area, utilizing drones, helicopters, boats, K-9’s and thermal imaging cameras.

The official MSHP report states the girl entered the water “in an unknown means,” and was later located next to a dock. She was recovered from the water and was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m. after CPR efforts were unsuccessful.

This incident marks the first drowning of the year for MSHP Troop F.
