ST. LOUIS – Get ready for the warmest day of our week, as temperatures are expected to pop into the 70s Friday afternoon.
The atmosphere is very dry and we are expecting gusty winds. That combination means fire danger is high. A Fire Weather (Red Flag) Warning has been issued because of this. If a fire were to start, it could spread quickly and uncontrollably in these conditions.
We’ll see a very noticeable change Friday night into Saturday. A pair of cold fronts comes through the area late Friday and early Saturday. They won’t bring rain; remember our air is dry, but they will bring a shot of colder air.
Wake-up temperatures Saturday will be in the near freezing with afternoon highs only in the mid 40s. Heads up Mardi Gras paradegoers, it will be chilly, especially in shaded areas.
A cold start Sunday, temperatures in the 20s, then highs in the mid to upper 40s expected. It will be sunny and dry all weekend. Sunday night, clouds will return.
Some light rain is possible Monday morning. Tuesday has a chance for some heavier rain and the chance of some strong thunderstorms.
