KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 5-year-old girl has been found safe following an early-morning Amber alert that was issued by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Friday, but law enforcement said they are still looking for a suspect in connection to the abduction as well as two killings.

The child was taken following two homicides that occurred overnight in Platte County, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

As of Friday morning, law enforcement agencies are still looking for George Clyde Manning III in connection to the child abduction and two homicides. They believe he could be driving a stolen blue Hyundai Accent with Kansas plate 3939ABK. Troopers are considering him armed and dangerous.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office said that the killings and abduction happened just after 11:15 p.m. on Thursday.

The first homicide was in Riverside, near the intersection of Vivion Road and NW High Drive, at approximately 11:15 p.m.

The suspect took that victim’s vehicle from the scene and drove to NW 50th Street in unincorporated Platte County.

The sheriff’s office believes the suspect then went to a home on 4400 block of NW 50th Street and shot two other people. One person died and another person was seriously injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

Information identifying the victims has not yet been released.

The suspect then allegedly took a 5-year-old girl from the home and fled the area.

An Amber alert for the child was issued just after 2:30 a.m. Friday and was canceled more than four hours later after the child was found safe. The sheriff’s office said she has since been reunited with family members.

George Clyde Manning III, the man sought by law enforcement for questioning, is described as a 43-year-old Black man with brown eyes and black hair wearing a white shirt. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds.

Anyone with information about the homicides or abduction is asked to call 911 or the Platte County Sheriff’s Office at 816-858-3521.
