ST. LOUIS – There are new gates at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Metrolink Station, which is part of its Secure Platform Plan.

“We have initiated two platforms this morning,” said Kevin Scott, general manager of Security Bi-State Development. “That’s the Central West End and Forest Park-DeBailiere.”

The platforms get upgraded fencing and a complete closed-circuit television.

Going from five or six cameras at a stop to nearly 30, fed into a real-time camera system at Metro headquarters.

Those can’t miss the latest security gates at the Forest Park–DeBaliviere Metrolink station.

“In conjunction with the secure platform project, we’re also doing an upgrade to our fare collection system,” Scott said. “When these platforms open, they’ll operate within an interim mode.  Meaning, security will let you into the gates to get in.”

Secure platform plan gates, fencing and cameras have been installed in locations, including at Emerson Park, Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center and Washington Park.

Installation of security gates and fencing is progressing at the Grand station, which will be number 11.

When finished in 2026, all 39 Metrolink stations will have enhanced security measures and fencing.

Metrolink said its new system allows them to have real-time closed-circuit camera feeds in all of their buses, trains and transit centers.

“If it’s current on a bus, then we’re able in real time to get that information over to law enforcement,” Scott said. “It enhances our officer safety; it enhances security safety and it enhances the overall safety for our customers.”
