ST. LOUIS – Cornerstone Center for Early Learning announced today in a press release that it received a $25,000 grant from Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer in the United States.

With this grant, the organization looks to use the funds to foster an efficient future in health and brain development for Cornerstone children in terms of nourishing meals, from fruits to vegetables.

“Support from Bayer Fund strengthens Cornerstone’s nutrition program, ensuring our children have access to fresh, healthy meals that fuel their growth and learning,” said Karen Lucy, executive director for Cornerstone Center for Early Learning. “This funding allows us to introduce a variety of nutritious foods, many of which children may be experiencing for the first time, while also fostering a deeper understanding of where food comes from through hands-on experiences like our community garden.”

With this mutual collaboration, both groups look to serve the community. The news release also acknowledged how this funding can inspire the children in Cornerstone’s care to reach their maximum potential behaviorally, socially and academically.

“Programs like Cornerstone help combat the critical issue of food insecurity, and we’re honored to play a role with helping even more people in our community have access to healthy, nutritious food,” said Amy Simpson, senior manager of Community Engagement at Bayer Fund. “Programs like Cornerstone help combat the critical issue of food insecurity, and we’re honored to play a role with helping even more people in our community have access to healthy, nutritious food.”
