ST. LOUIS – Two men are dead after two separate shootings in University City and north St. Louis on Tuesday.

According to a press release from the University City Police Department, officers received a call for the first shooting a little before 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on the 1300 block of Sheridan Drive.

Upon arrival, police said they found a 35-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound near the intersection of Appleton and Sheridan drives. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The second shooting took place around 8 p.m. Tuesday night on the 5900 block of Lalite Avenue in north St. Louis’ Walnut Park West neighborhood, according to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD).

When authorities arrived on the scene, police said they found a 38-year-old man on a porch suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to SLMPD, the suspect in the shooting, a 35-year-old man, remained at the scene and was taken into custody by authorities.

Investigators from the University City Police Detective Bureau and the SLMPD’s Homicide Division are actively investigating the two separate shootings in their jurisdiction.
