SULLIVAN, Mo. – A truck driver involved in a deadly crash on Interstate 44 a year ago is now in federal custody.

The crash happened on March 27, 2024, near Sullivan. Police said the tractor-trailer driver, identified as Manpreet Singh, went through a cable barrier and crossed over the highway median from westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes and struck an SUV head-on.

A Franklin County grand jury indicted Singh in November 2024 with one count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter. A warrant was issued for Singh’s arrest that same month.

In December 2024, Singh was arrested in Douglas County, Missouri. Singh posted bond and surrendered his passport to his attorney in January 2025, with the approval of the Franklin County Circuit Court.

As of March 4, 2025, Singh is in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). An exact location was not provided. According to online court documents, Singh’s listed address is in Elmont, New York.
