ST. LOUIS – A title can bring bragging rights, and St. Louisans have something to talk about with neighboring friends and family.
A USA Today 10Best poll ranked St. Louis as the second-best beer city in the United States for 2025. Cities across the country were nominated by an expert panel and readers based on their extravagant bar scenes.
Prior to Prohibition, St. Louis had about 100 breweries, according to the poll. In 2024, St. Louis, which is home to Anheuser-Busch, has increased its number of breweries in recent years.
According to USA Today 10Best, St. Louis’ Beer Fest in February featured over 40 breweries and 120 beers. The Louis Microfest, happening in May, looks to serve visitors hundreds of craft beers. Visitors can look forward to live music and food.
The following cities and their ranks are:
- San Diego, California 3rd
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 4th
- Columbus, Ohio 5th
- Portland, Oregon 6th
- Asheville, North Carolina 7th
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin 8th
- Charlotte, North Carolina 9th
- Denver, Colorado 10th
Now with the main question: which city ranks first over St. Louis?
According to USA Today 10Best, Grand Rapids, Michigan, holds the top spot as the “best” beer city in the United States.
Their reasoning surrounds the state’s prevalent sports scene. Multiple breweries exist around Grand Rapids, and the city showcases its passion for beer through its festivals, events and promotions in its local calendar.
Although St. Louis finishes second, locals can cheer to this surprising news with a laugh and beer toast with family and friends. Onward and upward to 2026.
