ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Fire Department is installing around 1,000 smoke alarms in neighborhoods throughout St. Louis as part of the Red Cross’s ‘Sound the Alarm’ initiative.

This initiative aims to make homes safer and help families create fire escape plans. The installations are part of a yearly effort to improve fire safety in the community.

The St. Louis Fire Department will continue the installation event tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents who missed the initial installation can still participate.

Residents can call the fire department to request a smoke alarm if they are unable to attend the event.
