ST. LOUIS – It was a deadly night in north St. Louis, according to police.

Three people were shot and killed; all these shootings took place within hours of each other. And now, the police are calling for the public’s help in finding the shooters.

The body of a woman—covered in leaves—was found in a backyard at a home on Marcus avenue in the Penrose neighborhood. Her cause of death is unknown, according to officials.

“I will share with you that the death investigation on Penrose last night that detectives were called out to the 44000 block of Marcus Avenue is going to be turned over to an official homicide investigation,” said Mitch McCoy, St. Louis Metropolitan police.

The next shooting happened just before midnight inside the James House apartments on St. Ferdinand.

Officers arrived to find Mikell Rayford, 27, shot in the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This homicide that occurred right before in the apartment building seems to stem from the type of argument that led to gunfire. And we’ve already identified a potential suspect in that case,” McCoy said.

Early Monday morning, a man was shot and found on the sidewalk in the Greater Ville neighborhood. He was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries.

Investigators urge anyone with information on any of these cases to contact St. louis Metropolitan Police or call Crimestoppers at 1-877-371-TIPS.
