BALLWIN, Mo. – A crowd gathered Saturday morning in Ballwin for a “Hands Off” protest, holding signs and calling out U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk as part of a nationwide movement.
The protest began around 11 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Manchester and Weidman roads. It lasted until around 2 p.m.
Participants have voiced frustration with Trump’s actions during the early months of his second presidential term, accusing him and Musk of pushing government downsizing, while also raising concerns about the economy and human rights.
On Saturday, demonstrators in Ballwin were seen holding signs such as “Hands Off Democracy,” “Discrimination is Fraud, Waste and Abuse,” “Save Our National Parks,” and “Protect the Constitution.”
More than 1,200 “Hands Off” demonstrations were planned by more than 150 organizations across the United States, according to the Associated Press.
Organizers say their message is focused on fighting corporate greed and political corruption, while defending essential rights for workers and marginalized communities.
It’s unclear how many people participated in Saturday’s protest in Ballwin. County police cars were parked in nearby lots and roads to keep a close eye on the demonstrations.
Locally, there were similar protests organized Saturday in Brentwood, Arnold and St. Charles County.
