ST. LOUIS – One cold front overnight has produced a few early morning showers east of St. Louis. However, a second cold front is expected to arrive on Thursday, increasing the likelihood of scattered showers in the morning, followed by showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Temperatures Thursday will reach a high close to 70. In the afternoon, a few strong to severe storms will be possible, especially along and south of I-44 in MO and I-70 in IL. These storms could produce nickel- to quarter-size hail and bring some strong wind gusts. That second front moves through Thursday night and brings some cooler temperatures for Friday.
The overnight weather is expected to be partly cloudy, with a few spot showers. Wake-up temperatures Friday will be in the 40s. Friday’s midday and afternoon clearing will result in highs in the mid to upper 50s.
There will be a sunny and dry weekend ahead. The temperature will drop back to the 60s on Saturday. Sunday will be windy and even warmer, with highs in the 70s.
