ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – One teenage suspect was arrested in connection with a crash that injured a St. Louis County park ranger last month.

A 17-year-old boy turned himself into St. Louis County Family Court custody on Thursday.

The St. Louis County Police Department says the suspect is being held on charges of first-degree assault, resisting arrest, aggravated fleeing a stop or detention, and armed criminal action.

The charges come in connection with an incident on March 29 that also led to the ranger firing shots after his vehicle was struck. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. in the 3000 block of Adie Road.

Investigators say a park ranger saw two suspicious vehicles in McDonnell Park. The vehicles quickly left the park and one of the cars struck the ranger’s vehicle while leaving.

After that, the ranger fired his weapon at that vehicle. The park ranger was taken to the hospital after the incident. His injuries were not life-threatening.

No one was struck by gunfire. One person of interest was initially taken into custody that evening.

St. Louis County police say the park ranger is 33 and has four years of law enforcement experience.
