ST. LOUIS – The end of tax season means business is picking up for another industry.

Car dealerships said they are seeing a big jump in sales right now.

“Historically, tax return season is very good for the automobile industry and it has been very good for St. Charles Nissan. Tax returns are coming in, people are wheeling and dealing and so are we,” said Ron Martin, St. Charles Nissan Sales Consultant.

Martin said at St. Charles Nissan, within three hours of opening on Friday, they had already sold six cars.

“Back in 2024 in the automobile industry, I think there was about a six percent uptick during tax return season as far as vehicle sales were concerned as compared to 2023,” Martin said.

Martin said he’s also had many people ask about the possible tariffs impacting pricing as well.

“Nissan is about 75% built in America as well. It would be my opinion that with the tariffs, they haven’t really been enacted yet,” Martin said.

He said if you are looking to purchase a new vehicle this year, you may have the best deals right now.

“I anticipate that there will be vehicle pricing adjustments so that is going to make the consumer maybe lean toward something less expensive but then you’ve got the supply and demand,” Martin said.
