ST. LOUIS – A man from Rolla, Missouri, was sentenced to up to a decade in prison for shooting his ex-girlfriend in the face.
Robert Harper, 43, was found guilty of first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action in relation to the shooting, which happened on Jan. 19, 2023.
The incident occurred in the Benton Park neighborhood. Court documents say the couple dated for nearly a year.
On the night of the shooting, Harper shot the woman with a semiautomatic rifle.
The woman was automatically transported to the hospital.
“Shooting someone in the face is an act of pure brutality. Robert Harper’s actions were calculated and cruel, and there must be consequences for violence like this,” said St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore.
