CASEYVILLE, Ill. – A man died Tuesday after he was attacked by a group of dogs in Caseyville, Illinois, officials say.

The St. Clair County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Kent Recklein, 67, of Caseyville.

Police responded to a call that reported the attack around 2 p.m. Tuesday. Police declined to share the specific location and details on what may have led up to the attack. Recklein died from his injuries.

Caseyville Police Chief Woodrow Hall said three dogs were taken by St. Clair County Animal Control. Chief Hall reported the three dogs were pit bulls.

As of Wednesday, no charges have been filed, and it remains unclear whether charges will be pursued.
