ST. LOUIS – High pressure has finally calmed our winds. Clear skies and light winds will help make for a chilly Friday morning, in the 40s across the St. Louis region.
With clouds, a northeast flow in the atmosphere, and a few rounds of rain, this is shaping up to be the coolest Memorial Day holiday weekend since 1984.
Friday will start sunny, but clouds will roll in during the afternoon. Temperature highs are expected to reach around 70 F. Scattered showers Friday evening, overnight temperatures fall into the 50s.
A larger batch of rain will impact southwest Missouri in the early morning hours of Saturday, but this will just miss the bulk of the St. Louis area. Folks near Rolla and Salem, MO and campers in the Current and Jacks Fork Rivers area might see some rain.
Saturday may end up being the peak day of the holiday weekend. There will be a mix of clouds and sunshine and a lot of dry time. But it will be cool, with highs in the upper 60s.
Rain looks to return overnight and linger through Sunday morning. Maybe some dry time in the late afternoon; Sunday’s top temperatures will only be in the mid-60s.
Rain looks likely again Monday morning as waves of rain slide through the region thanks to a stalled-out frontal boundary. Not great for the many remembrance ceremonies but stay tuned for timing updates through the weekend.
