WENTZVILLE, Mo. – Police have announced that a man is dead following a heavy police presence in Wentzville Wednesday.

According to the Wentzville Police Department, a man was threatening self-harm and was believed to be armed. His family called police for a welfare check, and officers spotted his car near Crossroads Drive off of Wentzville Parkway.

Police called in extra assistance from the St. Charles County Regional SWAT Team to help negotiate with the man, but they were unable to make any contact with him.

Police found the man dead inside his vehicle. Law enforcement attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful, police added.

“We extend our condolences to the individual’s family during this tragic time. Our thoughts are with them and all those affected,” the Wentzville Police Department said.

A heavy police presence remains in the area as an investigation continues.
