OLIVETTE, Mo. – Not many can recount what they did for the last day of school, but for one local music teacher, she will remember this day for the rest of her life.
Most spend the last day of school having class parties or preparing for summer vacation. But students and staff members at the Old Bonhomme Elementary School had other plans.
A coordinated proposal was in place for third-grade music teacher Danielle Sutherland. Her partner, Josh, and others facilitated the proposal, with even the Director of Communications assisting in this special moment.
The Director of Communications was also asked to act as a decoy reporter covering the story. With family members on board, Josh and others had the perfect plan to surprise Danielle while she was teaching her students.
In the recorded video, Danielle can be seen walking into the classroom, with her partner holding the ring in his hand.
When he takes a knee to ask the most important question, students in the background can be heard asking, “Will you marry him?” to their teacher.
Danielle, emotional with tears, said “yes,” and everyone expressed excitement for the couple.
With the school session officially over, the couple will have the entire summer to plan for their wedding.
