ST. LOUIS – A new resource center is opening at Metro Academic and Classical High School on Monday to support families affected by the recent tornado that damaged a dozen St. Louis Public Schools (SLPS).
The center is a collaborative effort between St. Louis Public Schools, the SLPS Foundation, and the Little Bit Foundation, aiming to provide essential items and long-term stability for those impacted by last month’s EF-3 tornado.
SLPS Superintendent Dr. Millicent Borishade emphasized the district’s commitment to being a source of support beyond education, extending help to teachers and staff affected by the tornado.
Starting Monday, district families can visit the center at Metro Academic and Classical High School to meet with case managers and access essential items such as clothing, shoes, toiletries, and food. The resource center, which is located at 4015 McPherson Avenue, will operate from Monday through Thursday, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Donations of hygiene items, clothing, and nonperishable food can be made at the center or at the Little Bit Foundation headquarters, located at 2446 Schuetz Road in Maryland Heights, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
The opening of the resource center marks a significant step in aiding the recovery of the St. Louis school community, providing much-needed support and resources to those affected by the tornado.
