ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A male in his late teens is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after crashing a suspected stolen vehicle Thursday evening in Bridgeton.

According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis County Police Department, officers were around South New Florissant Road and Interstate 270 just after 7:05 p.m. when they saw a black passenger vehicle that had been reported stolen in an armed carjacking in St. Louis City early that day.

Police tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver accelerated and attempted to get away.

Officers gave chase until the driver crashed into a utility pole at Interstate 270 and St. Charles Rock Road.

No one other than the suspected carjacker was injured.
