ST. LOUIS – A man arrested last month following a police pursuit and officer-involved shooting in Midtown faces charges for separate crimes.

Investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said Devin Hart, 22, was part of a series of robberies on Dec. 7, 2024.

According to the SLMPD’s probable cause statement, the first of these robberies happened in the 1500 block of South Grand Boulevard. Police said Hart parked a white SUV at a gas station while a passenger in the vehicle broke into another car and stole a purse, cell phone, and credit cards.

Later in the day, police said Hart was in a stolen 2016 Infiniti QX60 with others. Hart stole a BMW X3 from the victim and drove off the lot with the vehicle. The stolen BMW was recovered later and returned to the victim, but the key fob could not be located.

Finally, police allege that Hart and the others in the stolen Infiniti went to the second victim’s home address to retake the BMW X3. Hart fought with an individual living with the victim. A suspect in the stolen Infiniti took out a gun and fired a single shot to discourage the victims from fighting back.

Hart crashed the BMW into a gas meter while attempting to flee in the stolen vehicle.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Hart with two counts of stealing – $750 or more, two counts of stealing, one count of stealing a motor vehicle, three counts of first-degree property damage, and one count of vehicle hijacking. Hart has remained in jail since his arrest. He’s next due in court for that case on Jan. 22.

Hart was arrested on Dec. 21, 2024, following an apparent spree of active and attempted car break-ins. Hart and three others were driving a reported stolen vehicle and attempting to break into vehicles at a QuikTrip and nearby Topgolf on Chouteau Avenue.

A chase ensued and ended with the stolen vehicle crashing into another vehicle and the concrete median in the 700 block of South Grand Blvd. Hart and two men, Juan Pendergrass and Yariel Williams, were taken into custody. The fourth suspect, who was armed, was shot.

At the time of his arrest, Hart was already on parole for a first-degree robbery conviction.
