ST. LOUIS – Acclaimed actor Jason Bateman revealed earlier this week that he is preparing to play a “St. Louis weatherman” in an upcoming project.

The insight comes nearly three months after HBO announced a new limited-edition drama series titled “DTF St. Louis.” The series will consist of seven episodes and feature Bateman, and filming is expected to begin this month in Georgia, according to several reports.

During Monday’s SmartLess podcast production on YouTube, Bateman did not explicitly name the “DTF St. Louis” series, but he mentioned he was “leaving in three weeks” to play a “St. Louis weatherman.”

“I got to start doing some homework,” said Bateman. “I’ve really been putting it off. I’m like that, though. I just kick it all down the road and then cram.”

On preparing for his role, Bateman said, “Just like reading and rereading the scripts. I got to figure out my look. You know, I’m playing this St. Louis weatherman.”

SmartLess co-hosts Will Arnett and Sean Hayes reassured him, saying, “I think you got it,” and “I think you got it too.”

Bateman then elaborated, “It’s going to be a mustache and maybe parting the hair and glasses, but I don’t want to get too ‘Anchorman’ with it, you know.” Arnett and Bateman then had a light-hearted discussion about Bateman’s hairstyle before the conversation shifted to other topics, including on-air guest Arianna Grande.

Though the “DTF St. Louis” title wasn’t directly mentioned in the discussion, it seems likely Bateman was referencing the HBO series.

Previously, HBO has described “DTF St. Louis” as “a darkly comedic limited series about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise that leads to one of them ending up dead.”

The series is also expected to include David Harbour and Richard Jenkins in its cast. Filming is reportedly primarily planned in Georgia.

A spokesperson for the Missouri Division of Tourism tells FOX 2 on the series, “We have been in contact with the production and are aware that they plan to film in Georgia. We believe that the Missouri film industry will stay busy regardless of where that particular production films.”

Many other details about the series remain undisclosed, including possible timetables for filming, production, and the series release.
