ST. LOUIS — A 21-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday in connection to the death of a 16-year-old after he was hit by a car in January.

According to St. Louis Metropolitan Police, Miniyha Smith, 21, was taken into custody for allegedly hitting King Thompson on Jan. 8 with her sedan along Martin Luther King Drive in north St. Louis.

Smith has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, and tampering with physical evidence during the investigation.

According to police, Thompson was hit by Miniyha’s sedan around midnight. When police responded, he was found disoriented with a head injury and broken ribs.

Thompson was released from the hospital on Jan 11, and he died the next day at his home in the 1800 block of N. Sarah. Police believe the death was related to the hit-and-run accident.
