ST. LOUIS – A new lawsuit filed Tuesday shows O’Hara Outdoors claims that Pepper Pike Property Management owes them $171,929.65.
Invoices listed in the lawsuit claim the company has provided snow removal and landscaping for five of their properties around the area since October, including Forest View, Hathaway, Olive Pointe, Grants Trail, and Spanish Lake Town Homes.
This is the latest lawsuit in the area against Pepper Pike after FOX 2 reported last October that five other contractors had sued them, claiming a lack of payment for their work. Other complaints at the time came from other Pepper Pike properties, including Spanish Lake Town Homes.
FOX 2 has continued to hear recent similar complaints.
On Wednesday, resident Starshai Turner said that she had mold and mushrooms growing in her apartment. She is now worried for her asthmatic son’s health.
“He’s only 13 months old. He can only take so much in his lungs,” Turner said.
Her son spent three days in the hospital last week, she said. Now, she is staying with her family and is afraid to take her son back home.
“He hasn’t been back here and won’t come back here,” she added.
Pepper Pike, based out of Ohio, sent FOX 2 a statement on Wednesday, saying they have agreed to let Turner out of her lease.
“We acknowledge deferred maintenance from before we acquired the property, which is why we are investing in renovations. With 768 apartment homes, this must be done in phases, but we remain committed to improving the community,” the statement read. “We appreciate local leaders supporting our vision and recognizing completed renovations.”
Pepper Pike said that it is unaware of the lawsuit filed on O’Hara Outdoors on Tuesday.
“We are working with them to resolve billing discrepancies and unauthorized work, and payment will be made once an agreement is reached,” they wrote.
