RED BUD, Ill. – A fallen North Las Vegas police officer is returning home to Illinois Friday afternoon.

Officer Jason Roscow is arriving at St. Louis Lambert International Airport just after 4 p.m. Friday and will be transported to his hometown of Red Bud, Illinois, by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

Sections of highways will be temporarily closed as Roscow is escorted to the Peachacek Funeral Home.

Agencies will be managing traffic control on Interstate 70 at the airport to Interstate 270, then onto Interstate 255, to the Jefferson Barracks Bridge to cross into Illinois, and southbound on Route 3.

“This solemn event serves as a testament to the unity and support within the law enforcement community, regardless of distance,” the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department said. “We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the community as we honor Officer Jason Roscow, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.”

Roscow was killed in the line of duty on Feb. 4 when he responded to a call about a man pointing a gun. Upon Roscow’s arrival, both he and the suspect exchanged gunfire. Both were killed.

He leaves behind two sons, ages 9 and 4. Roscow was 46 years old.
