WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. – One man is in custody following an attempt to stab a gas station employee Thursday night.

According to the Webster Groves Police Department, 41-year-old Richard Turner walked into the BP Gas Station in the 7900 block of Big Bend Blvd. around 9:30 p.m.

The victim, who was an employee, told police he saw Turner get into his vehicle in the parking lot. When the victim confronted him, Turner asked him for a ride. When the victim said no, Turner allegedly grabbed the victim by his shirt and tried to stab him with a knife.

The victim managed to escape, going back into the gas station, locking the doors, and calling police.

Turner fled the scene, according to police. He was located in the 7700 block of Big Bend Blvd. shortly after and was arrested without incident. Turner was in possession of the knife.

Turner is charged with first-degree attempted robbery, first-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action. He is being held with a $100,000 cash-only bond.
