ST. LOUIS – It’s a love story that has stood the test of time.

80-year-old Richard and 79-year-old Marilyn Meyers have shared a bond that has lasted nearly six decades. On this Valentine’s Day, the couple decided to enjoy an ice cream social at their Clarendale Clayton Senior Residence.

The couple has been inseparable since the late 1960s. Richard recalls the moment he first saw Marilyn—he knew right then she was the one.

Just one month after their first encounter, the two got married, which has now spanned 57 years.

When asked about the key to their long-lasting relationship, Richard emphasized the importance of open dialogue, saying communication is key.

“We have had a lot of interest over the years. We are not the same people we were 57 years ago, but it’s tolerance for the other person’s interests,” he said.

Marilyn added, “It’s love that has grown a long time,” noting that they never take each other for granted.

The couple says their journey is a beautiful example of lasting love and hopefully can be an inspiration to others.
