ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Board of Education has named Dr. Millicent Borishade the new superintendent of Saint Louis Public Schools.
Borishade has served as interim superintendent since July 2024, when her predecessor, Dr. Keisha Scarlett, was placed on leave. Scarlett was officially removed from the job that September.
The board voted 4-1 to approve Borishade’s full ascension to the position. The vote was held during a special meeting on Feb. 18.
The SLPS will host a news conference to discuss the change in district leadership at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 25 at Meramec Elementary School.
One of Borishade’s priorities will include overseeing the transition to the district’s new transportation provider, Zum, for the 2025-26 school year.
During Tuesday’s meeting, the board of education also voted 4-1 to appoint Ben Conover to fill a vacancy on the board. This restores the board to its full, seven-member capacity. The vacancy was created in January. Conover will be sworn in at the board’s next official meeting on March 11.
