ST. LOUIS — Regional grocery chains Schnucks and Dierbergs are closing many stores early across Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana on Monday as dangerous winter weather continues to impact the region.

Most Schnucks stores in the St. Louis metropolitan area, including locations in St. Charles and Jefferson Counties and Metro East, will close at 3 p.m. Monday. The Cahokia, Illinois store will close at noon. Most stores will reopen on Tuesday, January 7 at 9 a.m., with hours subject to change based on conditions. All Indiana locations remain closed Monday but plan to reopen Tuesday at 9 a.m.

The closures also affect stores across Missouri including Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Jefferson City, Farmington and Washington. In Illinois, stores in Carbondale, Centralia and Springfield will also close early.

All Dierbergs locations will close early today due to weather and road conditions. They plan to reopen tomorrow at 6 a.m. for regular hours.

Forecasters predict bitter cold through Thursday with daytime highs only reaching the low to mid-20s. Wind chills could drop to -15 degrees during morning hours.

Schnucks says it will continue monitoring conditions and adjust store hours as needed. Stores in unaffected areas maintain regular operating hours. All Indiana Schnucks stores remain closed today.
