ST. LOUIS – St. Louis city officials will conduct another planned tornado siren test at noon Wednesday, according to mayor Cara Spencer.

Wednesday marks the second straight day with a planned siren test in St. Louis. Another took place around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Spencer said the test on Tuesday showed “systemic concerns,” prompting further testing.

“We would not do it if we did not believe it was absolutely necessary,” said Spencer.

On Monday, Mayor Cara Spencer said “human error” factored into sirens not going off during Friday’s severe storms, which included a tornado. Five people died form injuries in the storms.

Since then, CEMA Commissioner Sarah Russell has been suspended and Mayor Spencer signed an executive order to activate a new siren protocol.

Under the new protocol, the St. Louis Fire Department is responsible for activating the siren.
