BALLWIN, Mo. – The Ballwin Police Department has appointed John Bergfeld as its new Chief of Police. Bergfeld has been a member of the Ballwin police force since 1997.
During his tenure, Chief Bergfeld has served in various roles, including patrolman, school resource officer for Selvidge and Crestview Middle Schools, patrol sergeant, community affairs sergeant, road lieutenant, accreditation manager, assistant chief of police, and captain. He now steps into the role of Chief of Police.
Former Ballwin Police Chief Doug Schaeffler was fired last year and faces an ongoing lawsuit that accuses him of violating people’s privacy rights.
