ST. LOUIS – The countdown is on for the return of spring football season in St. Louis. The Battlehawks home opener at the Dome At America’s Center is just two days away.

One of the biggest changes for this season? New turf! The vibrant green surface inside the Dome really pops out, both in person and on TV.

Crews are putting the finishing touches on a new million-dollar turf project. This week, that included a new, fresh coat of paint for the Battlehawks name in the end zone and the UFL league logo.

Additionally, there’s also a new million-dollar, color-changing lighting system. It will play a big part in touchdown and victory celebrations.

Team and Dome officials say the changes are both an investment in pro football in St. Louis and a reward for fans who support their team, like no other fans in the league.

“I think this is what the fans have been asking for,” said Matthew Dewey, senior vice president and general manager for Explore St. Louis. “It was always a safe, playable field for the players. It had a little discolor over time. This one definitely has the pop.”

“You’re seeing an investment back into the league,” said David Kinsey, vice president of team business operations for the Battlehawks. “You’re seeing an investment into the team. That speaks to longevity. We just opened up a football operations headquarters in Arlington, Texas. This league is here to stay, spring football is here to stay and the Battlehawks are here to stay. We’re not going anywhere.”

The Battlehawks, 1-0 after a road victory over the Houston Roughnecks to start their 2025 season, will host the San Antonio Brahmas for their home opener on Sunday.

Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. Doors to the dome open at 4 p.m. And the pregame party in the plaza starts at 2 p.m.

Tens of thousands are expected to attend the game, but great seats remains. For a closer look at Battlehawks tickets, click here.
