MISSOURI — Before Jon Hamm became the well-known actor he is today, the St. Louis native was selected to narrate a 1994 physical fitness VHS for schools across the state.

The Missouri State Archives shared the video on YouTube, which was originally marketed as “Not your parents’ fitness video.” The video encouraging healthy eating and exercise was created in partnership with the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health.

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith appears throughout the tape as the celebrity spokesperson and honorary chair for the 1994 campaign.

Most of the narration was performed by Hamm when he was in his early 20s and worked as a high school drama teacher in St. Louis.
