ST. LOUIS – The Bellefontaine Cemetery in north St. Louis will remain closed until further notice due to Friday’s storm damage.

A manager at the cemetery told FOX 2 that the gates will be closed off until the cleaning is complete.

“Our team is actively working to ensure the safety and recovery of our grounds,” Bellefontaine Cemetery & Arboretum wrote on Facebook. “We appreciate your patience and will provide an update regarding operations for next week as soon as we can.”

The cemetery was founded in 1849, containing about 314 acres and over 87,000 graves.
