DANE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The body of a boater recovered from Lake Monona in Wisconsin has been identified as a man from St. Louis by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office provided a statement on behalf of the family of Collin Smith, who was born and raised in St. Louis. Smith’s body was recovered from Lake Monona on the night of May 23.
“Collin is loved and admired by so many, as evidenced by the outpouring of support and prayers from many, many people.
“Collin’s spirit will live on through his parents and his 3 sisters, his beloved cat, his extended family, his coworkers, and the multitude of friends and acquaintances who were always a source of pride for him, and who will always be a valued treasure in his life.”

Smith was one of multiple people who were on a boat that capsized on May 16 while out on Lake Monona. One person drifted to the shore, clinging to the boat, while three others, including Smith, hung on to a kayak.
Two of the three were rescued, but Smith was unfortunately not found until Friday, May 23.
