ST. LOUIS – Beneficial rainfall from Sunday morning’s storms ranging from a half inch to 2.5 inches in a narrow swath from southern Franklin County to northern Jefferson County to Monroe County in Illinois.

Sunday night will be quiet. The rain and storms are trailing ahead of the cold front that is now southeast of the FOX 2 viewing area. The clouds will eventually clear this evening, as lows fall to the 30s and 40s.

Seasonable temperatures return immediately, with highs in the 60s and 70s Monday through Wednesday.

There’s potential for rain Monday night, but chances are very low, and any rainfall will be confined to south-central Illinois.

Toward the end of the week, we’ll warm up to the mid-and-upper 70s. Cardinals Opening Day on Thursday looks mild, with a few scattered showers in the picture.

The FOX 2 Weather Team can’t nail down the timing just yet, but Thursday’s weather will open the door to a rainy pattern for Friday into the weekend.
