CLAYTON, Mo. – A Collinsville, Illinois, man is due in court next month to face charges that he and another man stole tens of thousands of dollars from a pair of ATM machines in Spanish Lake.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the thefts took place in the early morning hours of Nov. 30 and Dec. 12, 2023, in the 12100 block of Bellefontaine Road.
Police claim Ronald E. Blake (age not provided) and a co-conspirator broke into a pair of ATMs located side-by-side over a two-week period.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video to identify a vehicle used in both thefts. That vehicle was also tied to other ATM thefts in north St. Louis County and in Illinois.
Police claim to have identified Blake and the co-conspirator through surveillance video and obtained a search warrant for the co-conspirator’s residence. Both men were arrested.
Cellphone data placed the two men in the vicinity of the ATMs at the time of the thefts and the other crimes, police claim.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Blake with two counts of stealing from a teller machine and two counts of first-degree property damage. He’s due in court on July 10. Charging documents have not been made public for the accused co-conspirator.
