ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Two minors were critically injured following a crash that occurred Monday morning on Eastbound Interstate 270.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash was reported just before 5:35 a.m.

MSHP said one vehicle—which was stuck in lane four—ended up being struck by another vehicle.

Officials reported that the driver, a 50-year-old male who had two children in the car, attempted to avoid hitting the stopped vehicle.

The male driver swerved the car to the right, which struck the other car’s front rear. MSHP says the occupant of the second vehicle was a 28-year-old woman.

Both children were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The extent of the minors’ injuries was not disclosed to FOX 2, but they are said to be three and eight years old.

Both drivers in this incident did not sustain injuries, according to officials.

State troopers are currently investigating the crash.
