ST. LOUIS – The National Weather Service confirmed that multiple tornadoes struck the area, resulting in at least 13 fatalities and widespread destruction.

Among the victims was 43-year-old Jennifer Brewington from St. Louis County who was electrocuted by a downed power line in her backyard, and another woman from St. Charles who died while driving through standing water in Jefferson County.

An EF2 tornado tracked a 14-mile path from Villa Ridge to Wildwood, causing significant damage to homes and businesses. Another EF2 formed in Jefferson County, traveling from Hillsboro to Arnold.

Drone footage captured the devastation at a Burger King along Highway 100 and Old Route 66 in Villa Ridge, where the roof was completely torn off. Parked semis were flipped on their sides, windows were blown out, and cars were shifted from their parking spots. The Meramec Ambulance District’s building on Highway 100 lost much of its roof, highlighting the extent of the storm’s impact.

Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe toured some of the hardest-hit areas over the weekend.

Resident and owner of iRestore STL Storm Damage, Kirk Kupsky, said, “I’ve seen everything from roofs ripped off, I’ve seen extensive hail damage to vinyl roofing systems, missing parts, We’ve even seen trailers turned over, and unfortunately, there have been people who have lost their lives.”

Volunteers from local organizations are offering free assistance with tree removal, tarping, and debris cleanup, and can be reached through the Crisis Cleanup Hotline at 844-965-1386 until March 28.

Donations of non-perishable food, water, and basic supplies are being accepted at area fire departments and community centers to aid those affected by the storms.

The National Weather Service will continue assessing damage Monday.
