WENTZVILLE, Mo. – Early Thursday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance on Katie Lynn Court in Wentzville, where they took a man into custody. A woman was found dead at the scene.

Two children were also in the home, unharmed. They are in the custody of their grandfather.

FOX 2 discovered that the victim had been in contact with a domestic violence organization named Journey Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse (JADASA) since 2022.

“She was reaching out for safety. She was afraid. At the time she called us in January and I believe she was 7 months pregnant at the time. She was afraid for her life,” Dr. Cythnia Bennett, founder and CEO of JADASA, said.

Bennett shared that the victim had previously reached out, but fear kept her from leaving. Just this past May, the victim confided her fears to Dr. Bennett, saying she felt trapped with nowhere to run.

“A lot of times women feel like if they have kids and they don’t have the resources, it’s hard for them to up and move, especially if they have little babies and stuff,” Bennett said. “So, we just want to provide the resources and let them know to call us.”

The victim leaves behind two sons, a 6-month-old and a 17-month-old. Dr. Bennett stated the victim was pregnant at the time of her death. Meanwhile, the victim’s mother has set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses and support the children’s future.

Authorities confirmed the suspect, 39-year-old Darryl Tyson Jr., is in custody on a $500,000 bond and is facing new charges connected to the incident.
