ST. LOUIS – A drug dealer pleaded guilty Tuesday to shooting at an undercover St. Louis officer while the officer was investigating drug activity.

Anthony Stallworth, 25, admitted guilt to four federal charges, including:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine
  • Possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl
  • Distribution of fentanyl
  • Discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime

Investigators say, on Oct. 10, 2019, Stallworth sold 28 capsules containing fentanyl to an undercover officer. Five days later, the officer contacted Stallworth to arrange another purchase.

Stallworth met with the undercover officer, then had that officer follow him in his Mercedes SUV. At one point, when the officer was stopped at a stop sign, Stallworth suddenly stopped, pointed a gun out of his window and fired two shots in the direction of the officer’s vehicle before speeding away.

Investigators say, in the summer of 2023, officers spotted Stallworth engaging in drug transactions in the 4700 block of Wilcox Avenue in St. Louis.

After that, officers conducted a court-approved search of a nearby apartment and found Stallworth along with 450 grams of meth, 86 grams of fentanyl, a 10mm pistol and drug paraphernalia.

Stallworth is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 9. The U.S. Department of Justice says, under mandatory minimum sentences, he will face at least 15 years in prison.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police
Department investigated the case.
