“My earliest memories of kind of getting out of the neighborhood—that was a little bit challenging at times—was through scouting,” Governor Mike Kehoe said in a special address to the Eagle Scouts, who gathered in the Missouri House Chamber to listen to the governor and other dignitaries.

One scout from the Kansas City area said it’s easier for her to network now that she is an Eagle Scout.

“It creates really great leadership and prepares you for jobs,” Alison Comstock said. “I’ve had multiple job interviews since scouting and since I’ve become an Eagle Scout.”

For Kehoe, scouting paved the way for his life in business and in politics.

“Scouting has definitely been the thing that really differentiated me and prepared me for who you see in front of you right now,” Kehoe told the scouts.

The Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America, which recently announced a name change to Scouting America.
