EARTH CITY, Mo. – After two decades in business, a pharmaceutical packaging company in Earth City will shut its doors in May, putting dozens of people out of work.

Legacy Pharmaceuticals Solutions filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice on Feb. 28. The federal WARN Act requires employers to provide a 60-calendar day notice in advance of covered plant closings or mass layoffs.

The company has announced a closing date of May 4. Seventy-seven people will be affected.

Founded in 2004, Legacy Pharmaceuticals specializes in packaging for oral medication.

In October 2024, the company was acquired by New Jersey-based Nutra-Med Packaging, which itself is owned by the private equity firm GenNx360 Capital Partners.
