FENTON, Mo. – Powerful storms on May 26 brought a massive tree on top of a home in Fenton. Now, the family is trying to rebuild their lives.
Brendan and Alexa Davis, along with their two children and dogs, were out of town at the Lake of the Ozarks when severe weather moved through their hometown. A tree tore through every room except for Brendan and Alexa’s. Water damage continued throughout the basement and upstairs.
“There are trusts snapped in half. We don’t know yet, but it could be all the way down into the structure of the house as well. It’s pretty extensive damage,” Brendan said.
Their 11-month-old son, Knox, lost everything in his room when the ceiling collapsed. Their 3-year-old daughter, Finley, is struggling to understand what happened.
“It’s not been fun to watch people that we love have to go through this—to be out of their home, to have their 3-year-old daughter question why she can’t sleep in her bed or have her toys—that’s been really hard,” Stephanie Leggett, Brendan’s sister, said.
The family has lost nearly everything. The items they packed for their weekend trip to the Ozarks are all they have left. They managed to save a few items from the damage. A GoFundMe page has been created to help the Davis family navigate through this difficult time.
“We’re grateful to everyone who has donated, anybody that will donate in the future, but it’s just anything will help,” Brendan said.
While insurance covers a portion of the damage, Brendan and Alexa are currently living in a hotel with no clear timeline for returning home.
“Still have to cut down the tree, still have to get meals for however many nights they are out of the house. I know that anything is appreciated,” Leggett said.
