ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Charges have been filed against a Ferguson man for attacking and later shooting at a delivery driver who was bringing the man ice cream.
The shooting took place on Saturday, April 5, in the 9600 block of Abaco Court, according to the Ferguson Police Department’s probable cause statement.
Police said the driver was bringing ice cream to particular home and attempted to get the delivery code from the person at the residence, but that individual was unable to provide said code.
Police said Demodre M. Crawford exited the home and came to the delivery driver to ask for his order. The delivery driver had turned around and attempted to get back in her car where she had her daughter.
Crawford allegedly ripped the ice cream from the delivery driver, struck her, pulled her hair, and then knocked her to the ground.
The delivery driver scrambled into her vehicle and drove away. Police said Crawford took out a gun and fired one shot at the delivery driver’s car.
Police later recovered the gun at Crawford’s home.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Crawford with two counts of third-degree assault, one count of unlawful use of a weapon, and one count of second-degree robbery. Crawford remains jailed on a $250,000 cash-only bond. He’s due back in court for a bond reduction hearing on April 14 and a preliminary hearing on May 7.
