FERGUSON, Mo. – The Ferguson Police Department has issued an at-large warrant for a man charged for accidentally shooting one of his children in their home last week.

According to court documents, Bobby J. Jones discharged a firearm during an argument at home on April 10 when the bullet went through the ceiling, striking one of his teen children, who was sleeping, in the chest.

The teen was transported to the hospital with critical injuries but is recovering, officials said.

Now, police are looking for Jones after evidence indicated he left the area.

Jones’ last known residence is in the 1200 block of Lang Dr. in Ferguson, which is where the incident occurred.

He is facing five felony charges, which include:

  • Second-degree assault (special victim)
  • Armed criminal action
  • First-degree endangering the welfare of a child (serious physical injury)
  • Two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child (creating substantial risk)
