According to Love Food, Lula Southern Cookhouse in Kansas City was noted as the best in Missouri with its focus on bold flavors. The cookhouse was highlighted for its great menu, but also its crispy and juicy fried chicken.
Love Food writers also recommended having their fried chicken with waffles and chili syrup or with smashed potatoes and gumbo gravy. The website also says customers “rave” about their restaurant’s mac ‘n’ cheese and fried green tomatoes.
Over in Illinois, Honey Butter Fried Chicken in Chicago was crowned best in the state. The diner was noted for its wide range of sandwiches as well as Buffalo mac ‘n’ cheese and fried chicken with French toast.
